We hope our campaign will inspire young people in Somerset who haven’t been vaccinated yet to come forward for the jab and to get your booster vaccine, so you can get back to doing things you enjoy safely.

Whether you are out shopping, going to a gig, going to watch a match, having a kick about,  going to work or socialising with friends – the COVID-19 vaccine can be a lifesaver for you and your loved ones and helps you to keeping doing you. 

All of the COVID-19 vaccines have gone through rigorous clinical trials to determine their safety, and all have been proven to significantly reduce the chance of you getting seriously unwell with the virus, as well as helping to reduce spreading of the infection.

While young healthy people are less likely to get sick than older people, young people can, and have, ended up in hospital with COVID-19.  Currently most of the people in our hospitals in Somerset who have COVID-19 including younger people are those who are unvaccinated.

You can have long Covid symptons for months after the virus has cleared your system and can also unknowingly carry COVID-19 to people who are more vulnerable and put loved ones in danger of becoming severely sick.

Even if you have already had COVID-19, you should get vaccinated; the injection is very quick and painless.

In short, these vaccines are life savers – they are our best defence against prevent new variants such as Omicron from spreading and ensuring that we, and our loved ones, are protected against the virus.
