We are proposing to establish a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) which serves the east of the county and would like the views of local people to help shape it.

In September 2021, the Rutherford Diagnostic Centre was opened on the outskirts of Taunton, the first community diagnostics centre of its kind in England. The centre provides diagnostic services including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound and X-Ray.

David Craig, Programme Director for Diagnostics at Somerset Foundation Trust, says

We want to build on the success of the Rutherford Diagnostic Centre and develop a second Community Diagnostic Centre in the east of Somerset, further improving services away from acute hospitals, providing easier, quicker and more convenient access to the Somerset population.

This is a positive investment for health services in Somerset, and we would very much like the help of the public in shaping the delivery of future Community Diagnostic Centres, you can find out more and share your thoughts via our survey.”
