Walk-in clinics are taking place across Somerset this weekend – giving local people more opportunities to get their COVID-19 jabs.
Professor Trudi Grant, Director of Public Health for Somerset County Council, said: “The vaccination remains the best form of defence that we have against covid, and I would urge anyone who is yet to receive their first dose, second dose or booster to step forward when invited.
“There will be extra clinics held across Somerset this weekend to give local people the best opportunity to get their vaccinations, and I would encourage anyone who has not already done so to book their jab and help play their part to stop the spread of the virus.”
Gary Risdale, programme director for the Somerset COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, said: “In the last few weeks our vaccination clinics have been very busy as those who are eligible for a booster vaccination, or any other COVID-19 vaccination come forward. This is fantastic – the vaccination is the best way to help prevent serious illness from coronavirus and to help spreading it to others.
“This weekend we are holding extra clinics across Somerset. Some of these walk-in clinics are taking place in new pop-up locations like the Cheese and Grain venue in Frome this Thursday and at Clarks Village this Saturday and Sunday.
“Our walk-in clinics have been extremely popular and therefore please bear with us if queues do form. At Clarks Village on Saturday and Sunday we will run a ticketing system that will enable people to enjoy their visit and return to the vaccination clinic at the time on the ticket.”
