COVID-19 vaccination centres in Somerset offer walk-in vaccination clinics for aged 12 to 15

Monday 1 November 2021

COVID-19 vaccination centres in Somerset are now offering walk-in clinics for those aged 12 to 15. This is part of a local drive to make it as easy as possible for local people to get vaccinated.

Caroline Upton, head of nursing and quality for the Somerset COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, said: “Teams of vaccinators, administrators and volunteers are working very hard to make it as easy as possible for local people to get their jabs. As part of that we are now holding walk-in clinics where 12 to 15 year olds can get their vaccinations.”

Until recently, those in the 12 to 15 year old age group were being vaccinated in schools or could book a jab at a number of vaccination centres across the county. Now families also have the option of getting their children vaccinated at a walk-in clinic.

You can find out which centres are offering walk in clinics, including those for 12 to15 year olds on the “grab-a-jab” website.

This week there are clinics for 12 to 15 year olds at:

  • Firepool, Taunton from 3pm – 6pm from Monday 1 – Friday 5 November.
  • Haynes International Motor Museum in Sparkford, Somerset from 3pm – 5pm from Monday 1 – Friday 5 November.
  • Minehead Community Hospital from 3pm – 7pm on Tuesday 1 November and 10am – 6pm Saturday 6 November (drop-in only – no bookable appointments).

Gary Risdale from the Somerset Vaccination Programme said: “There are now a number of different ways that 12 to 15 year olds can get their COVID-19 vaccination.

“We have a significant number of slots for 12 to 15 year olds at our vaccination centres – including at Somerset Motor Museum in Sparkford and Firepool in Taunton – which parents or guardians can book via the National Booking System or by ringing 119. We are also offering drop-in clinics at Minehead Community Hospital.

“Alternatively 12 to 15 year olds can come to a walk-in clinic for this age group which are being held at some of our vaccination clinics. You can find out which centres are offering walk-in clinics for this age group on the “grab-a-jab” website.

“Children will also continue to be offered the COVID-19 jab through their schools”.
