Improving Access to NHS Dental Services in Somerset
NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board (ICB) is committed to improving access to NHS dental care across the county. As part of this effort, we have launched a procurement process to introduce additional NHS dental services in Chard and Crewkerne.
If successful, the appointed provider(s) will offer a mix of NHS and private dental services, increasing the availability of NHS dental care in these areas. More than 40,000 Units of Dental Activity (UDAs) will be made available each year through this programme, helping to expand local NHS dental provision.
In addition to this, we are pleased to share that a new NHS dental practice has already been successfully procured in Wellington. We are currently unable to confirm when this practice will open, but we will provide further updates as soon as possible.
At this stage, the procurement process for Chard and Crewkerne is in its early phases, and we cannot provide specific details about providers or opening dates. However, we are committed to keeping the public informed and will share updates as soon as they become available.
While we understand that many people are keen to register and interest in expanded NHS dental care, NHS Somerset is not currently accepting expressions of interest from patients for these new services. We appreciate your patience and will provide further updates as this project progresses.
