The NHS in Somerset is working hard to keep services running and people safe during periods of planned industrial action.
The British Medical Association (BMA) and Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) have announced junior doctors and dental trainees will take strike action from 0700 on Wednesday 20 December 2023 until 0700 on Saturday 23 December 2023.
Further strikes from 0700 on Wednesday 3 January 2024 until 0700 on Tuesday 9 January 2024 have also been announced. The involvement of HSCA Junior doctors in the action in January is subject to the outcome of the ongoing ballot of their members.
This is part of an ongoing dispute between junior doctors and government.

It is possible that non-urgent, routine appointments and procedures may be cancelled and postponed, to prioritise treatment for those most acutely unwell in community settings, GP practices and hospitals.
