Members of the public, as well as NHS staff and experts, will be invited to share their experiences, views and ideas for fixing the NHS, the Government announced today. It has called on the entire country to share their experiences of our health service and help shape the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan.
The public, clinicians and experts are urged to submit ideas using a new online platform change.nhs.uk, which goes live today, and via the NHS App– putting staff and patients in driving seat of health reforms.
Jonathan Higman, Chief Executive, NHS Somerset says;
“We welcome the Government’s proposals to engage the public, NHS Staff and experts in the biggest conversation about the NHS since it started.
“This year, we have already been engaging the public and our local stakeholders as part of Somerset’s Big Conversation and will be announcing the results of this engagement later this year.
“Health secretary Wes Streeting has committed to three ‘strategic shifts’ as part of new Ten-Year Plan for the NHS, which includes, moving care from ‘hospital to community’, from analogue to digital and from treatment to prevention. This is in line with everything we are already focussing on achieving in Somerset.
For example, with our:
- Take the Pressure Off Hypertension Campaign
- support programme for patients with Diabetes 2
- Open Mental Health Service
- Dementia Wellbeing Service
- Hospital at Home
- Support for patients to help them use the NHS App and other apps to help manage their health
- Neighbourhood programme currently being rolled out, where we are working with local communities to look at how we can develop local health and care services based on what local communities want and need closer to home.
“To complement engagement carried out nationally, from mid-November NHS Somerset will work with system partners through Our Somerset (our integrated care system) to co-ordinate local engagement with staff, stakeholders and our local communities”.
