The local NHS is holding a pop-up walk-in vaccination clinic at the Taunton Tourist Information Centre from 5 – 7.30pm this Friday, 2 July. Vaccinators will be giving the Pfizer vaccine and local people are urged to drop in for either their first dose or their second, as long as it is 8 weeks after their first dose.
Dr Tim Norbury from Taunton Vale Healthcare will be running the clinic on Friday evening. He said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for local people to get their vaccinations and therefore we are taking the vaccination right into the centre of Taunton early on Friday evening.
“If you are passing and have not yet had your first jab, or are due your second, please come and see us. Better still, if you live nearby, are on your way home, or on your way out, please stop by.”
Gary Risdale, Programme Manager for Somerset COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, said: “Getting both vaccinations is the best way of protecting yourself from serious illness from COVID-19 and it also helps reduce the risk of you spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. In Somerset teams of GPs, vaccinators and volunteers in a multitude of roles, are working around the clock to make the vaccine as accessible as possible. Please help us by having both jabs.”
There are a broad range of vaccination sites in Somerset on offer through the National Booking Service including; large vaccination sites, GP-led community sites and an increasing number of new pharmacy-led sites. People can book both first and second doses in advance by calling 119 or visiting: nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.
In addition a number of sites are holding walk-in clinics. Any day this week you can pop along to the large vaccination clinics at either the Taunton Racecouse or the Bath & West Showground between 9am – 6pm for either your first or second dose of either the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine.
