Paul von der Heyde – Deputy Chair

Paul von der Heyde has a wealth of experience within the NHS, serving as Chair of NHS Somerset from December 2021 to September 2025, as well as being Director and Chair of the Audit Committee before becoming the Chair at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Paul is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and worked in central London for almost 30 years specialising in business development and corporate finance as well as providing general financial, governance and taxation advice to a wide range of clients.

He was also Chief Executive of the UK arm of a major international group for 11 years. He currently chairs several small businesses and two national charities.

With strong roots, locally, Paul is determined to use his wealth of experience to ensure those who live within our system can live healthy lives, be supported by thriving communities and have timely access to high quality and efficient health and care services.

Since September 2025, Paul has been Deputy Chair of NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board (ICB) as and continues to chair meetings of NHS Somerset’s Board on behalf of Rob Whiteman.
