Professor Trudi Grant – Chief Officer for Population and Public Health
Trudi Grant is Chief Officer for Population and Public Health, a joint post between Somerset Council and NHS Somerset.
The role acts as the statutory Director of Public Health and is the Chief Officer and principal advisor for public and population health, spanning all four domains of public health: health improvement, health protection, wider determinants of health and health inequalities.
Trudi completed her public health training in the South West and has worked within the discipline for 29 years.
She has held the role of Director of Public Health in Somerset since 2012, providing the public health leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Trudi is also a Visiting Professor in the Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing, University of the West of England, Bristol and is a registered adviser to the national Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE).
She is a strong advocate for system change, seeking to put health improvement and tackling health inequalities at the heart of all we do.
