Dr Caroline Gamlin – Non Executive Director

Dr Caroline Gamlin has worked in healthcare for over 40 years.

As a GP and Public Health Doctor she has previously held posts as a Consultant in Public Health and was Director of Public Health in Somerset from 2006-2012.

She has also worked as a Medical Director and Responsible Officer for NHS England South West, where she looked after GP appraisal and performance as well as overseeing clinical networks for maternity, cancer, mental health, and heart disease. She continues to be active as a coach and mentor to senior health professionals.

Caroline, who lives in the county, is a volunteer mentor for young people in Somerset, has a voluntary role working as the Zambian ‘link lead’ for NHS England, and sits on the Improving Global Health operational board.

She has also served as an Executive Director at board level for previous Primary Care Trusts, Connexions Somerset, as a Governor of Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and school governor.

She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience of setting strategy and transformation and is passionate about ensuring equity of access to high quality health and care for all. Especially those who are disadvantaged and experience disparity in their health outcomes.

Caroline chairs the NHS Somerset Quality Committee.
