Around 75,000 homes across Somerset have received a handy guide to healthcare and support ‘on their doorstep’.
The six different On Your Doorstep leaflets feature tailored local information for people in and around Chard; Bridgwater; Burnham and Highbridge; Glastonbury and Street; Minehead, and Shepton Mallet.
The leaflets were developed through joint working with health and care partners in Somerset and were clinically reviewed by doctors. They aim to let people know about key local health, care and support services near where they live.
They have been delivered by Royal Mail to 75,000 homes in Somerset, with further copies available for pick-up in local centres.
Charlotte Callen, Director of Communications, Engagement and Marketing at NHS Somerset, said: “We know from talking to local people that they are keen to know more about the services available close to where they live.
“The NHS, Somerset Council and voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups, provide a huge range of services in local communities, ranging from X-rays and treatment for a sports injury, to cost-of-living advice and support for loneliness.
“The On Your Doorstep leaflets aim to signpost people to some of those services and provide a steer on how they can support people’s needs.”
The leaflets are designed to be kept handy at home for reference when needed as well as providing useful information to people who have limited or no internet access.
